Merry Christmas… again…

Merry Christmas… again…

As I stated in our last post – I felt so bad for not posting since Christmas.  That feeling is not so strong now as I realized Christmas really wasn’t that long ago after all.  As most of the United States heard from various news sources, Rochester was hit with a huge snow storm yesterday. Neither of us knew what was coming at all as Chris refused to look at the weather and the last I knew it said 2-4″ were expected.  It must have been the Christmas spirit that influenced me to make homemade cookies on Wednesday night – for Santa of course.

I woke up around 3am Thursday morning with the onset of a cold (another indication that Christmas was just a few days ago).  I accepted that I was getting sick, took some medicine and went to sleep.  Chris and I both woke up around 5:30 (an indication that this storm was brought on by a weird moon or turning of the tides or something like that).

We don’t often see that hour of the morning.

I mentioned to Chris that we got some snow.  To which he imposed a few choice words.  I should mention that Chris has been wearing sandals and shorts for weeks, yet we’ve only had a few nice days during that time. We went in and out of consciousness until about 9am, during which I was monitoring the tree outside our window.

Our window is the one on the 3rd floor

It often brushes up against our window/screen when it’s windy, but it seemed to be really leaning yesterday.  By 7am we wouldn’t even see out our window as the snow weighed down on the branches.  And when we actually woke up around 9 the tree was nowhere to be seen. Chris was convinced it had fallen over, yet I believe it will spring back up when the snow melts… It’s still down today.

Appropriate attire for a blizzard

Power was out at the church and I was not about to drive to work when the plows had not even taken a swipe at our street yet.  I worked on my computer from the comfort of my bed for awhile before we decided to embrace the weather and get dressed for a day out.  I slipped on my white socks with the green holly leaves, my bright red skinny jeans, and a bright green sweatshirt made complete with a long white scarf, hat and mittens.

Chris’ attire for a nice May day

Chris, on the other hand, dressed more appropriately for the season than the weather with shorts and sandals. He shoveled off the car and floored it to get our of our parking lot.  We drove to 18th Ave to make sure all the trees were standing when we saw a friend out shoveling.  We stopped in to see Eric and Josh’s house and then went to Blythe’s where we were sure she’d be gone at work, but were pleasantly surprised to find her using the snow day to it’s full glory.  She invited us in for some hot cocoa and cookies.  We decided to get Chinese food with Eric, Josh, and Blythe at a place we had not tried before.  Before we left Chinese food we all decided to get together for pizza at our place that evening.

Eating the cookies for Santa

Chris and I then went home to clean up a bit and for me to take a nap to kick this cold.  Before everyone came we were sure to put up our small christmas tree.  We enjoyed the homemade pizzas (one with salmon and asparagus  the other with alfredo,  meatballs, and pineapple)  We also had a boatload of cookies – for Santa of course.  We also enjoyed a fun night with friends in the winter wonderland!
