Sewing Adventure

As you read in my last post, sewing has not been a large part of my life. However, I have taken a new hobby (she says, after one successful take that took less than an hour to make).

I was laying an old gross dress, that used to belong to my mom, on the floor to start cutting apart and making it into an apron, when ADD kicked in. I remembered something I had “stumbled upon” and remembered the bag full of t-shirts that Chris finally gave into throwing away because they don’t fit or he has two of them. (Why do men buy 2 of the same thing if they like it? It still looks like you’re wearing the same thing 2 days in a row and people still avoid you because there may be a smell associated with standing next you). Anyone who knows Chris will remember his Fender shirts.

Or as I now call them: MY fender shirt(s).

For those of you who think I will be a horrible wife (in 23 days) because I do stuff like this, it must be said: I made a phone call to Chris this morning and asked him if it would be alright and if something went terribly wrong if he was attached at all or if he could bear the thought of it becoming rags if necessary. He was completely fine with the idea. That being said, the process wasn’t that hard, but the outcome was cool – a new T for me and Chris is excited to still get to look at his t-shirts. (They look much better on me too).

I cut around one of my favorite fitted T-shirts and then sewed it back together, re hemmed the sleeves and there you have it.

A new t-shirt made from old things! I prefer to make it sound really hard, as I told Chris “it was my little secret,” but to get an idea of how to do it:

The apron? It’s still in pieces on the floor.
