Pesto Presto!

Pesto Presto!

Tried my hand at pesto for the first time this week!  I personally think it was a fantastic first effort, however other crowds were a little harder to please.  I believe chris told me I should model my recipe more out of the canned/jarred pesto.  I won’t take too much offense though as he ate it all up.  I was unsure as we were making it with the roux and boiling without browning the flour, but it all worked out.

YUM!  very basil-y.  I must pay a great thanks to my mothers overgrown basil plants that I was able to take some from home last weekend!

..

We had a lovely dinner with some nice wine at the coffee table because our dining room table was way too junk filled with wedding and other things.  I choose to think of it as a romantic dining by the window experience though!  Just go with it…

Speaking of basil… My parents came to visit Rochester today. It was the first time they saw the apartment and we took them around downtown to explore (Barnes and Noble is a must downtown).  Also, we showed them where Chris works and went to Nupa for lunch – It’s a mediterranean place that’s bound to become one of our favorites here (along with everyone else and their mother). No, really. My mom really liked it I think. Anyway, we also checked out the mall before I headed for work, mom and dad bought some stuff where I work (I’m an excellent saleswoman) and then they were off again. It was a short trip, but with them they brought some stuffed animals for me to use with kids when I start teaching Kindermusik, almost all of my records for our awesome record player that we fixed and is now broken again. Really it’s just goobed up (I mean it is from 1970), but more on that later when we post about fixing it again.

They also brought socks for me to make puppets out of some random other things and basil.  I told you I was speaking of basil…

While my father took a siesta (that’s Spanish for nap) my mom and I figured out my great grandmothers sewing machine that was given to me by my grandma.

I’m not an avid sewer, however I plan to make my first attempt (since 8th grade family and consume science class) at making something useful that was not a bright pink leopard bag for my sister-in-law that had her name on it.  (she was very kind to use it and I apologize for any humiliation I may have caused – It was not intended)  or bright ducky pants (that i still wear to bed sometimes) or a black sweatshirt that I have not worn since I was in an elevator with my nana and her neighbor mistook me for her “grandson”  I was curvy at a young age too so this man’s eyes were, not 20-20 let’s say, and his ears couldn’t hear us correct him so I smiled politely and exited with grace… as a lady always does.

Which I will do now.

Sweetly,

Noelle
