Four Months to Go

Four Months to Go

The countdown has not begun yet (mostly because I feel wildly unprepared for a wedding.  It should be stated that it is not the getting married part that scares me.  It’s the planning and the humor we find when everything possible seems to be going slower than anticipated)

One thing worked out better than planned (or almost better than planned) My dress has already come and I had a fitting – which is a horse of a different color all together.  Let’s just say I’m praying it looks good and trusting that the seamstresses actually know what they’re doing despite their appearance.  Bridesmaid dresses have been a complete and utter failure.  I called this week to cancel the orders because they gave the girls different dresses without notifying me and I didn’t like the new dress.  Anyone seen any good dress patterns lately?

Those really are the only big wedding things to have gone wrong thus far.  And at the end of the day Chris and I jokingly remind each other we will be married – one way or another.

Chris has finally accepted that we will have three members to our new family (I’m talking about my dog, Chloe.  What were you thinking?)  He, of all people, was the one to suggest we register for dog treats for her to have at her new home.  I think he’s more of a dog person than he really lets on.

We made a trip to Minnesota last week to meet with friends and discuss our wedding invitations.  It was good to have a break before May term started.  Things are certainly picking up again (It’s strange when your may term class load seems more daunting than the past fall or winter semesters – parttime student.)  I am giving a harp recital on the 18th of this month and am coping with the strange feeling of nostalgia i will be having after graduation.  It’s just beginning to hit me that many things are about to change.  We are attending parties, bachelor and bachelorette parties, and weddings this month and next for close friends.  We’re so happy to be a part of the lives of friends who are getting married as we’ve watched their relationships.  We’re blessed to have people that are entering this endeavor alongside us – to share in our frustrations with bridesmaid dresses and flowers as well as lift each other up and celebrate the important things.  We have been graced with friends who have offered to help us with our wedding day and we are so excited to finalize plans.

Family of THREE!?!?!? I’ve got the litter and kitty food all packed. Diamond says she’s excited to meet her new sister Chloe (even if she is a yucky dog!)

And don’t let Chris fool you. He’s not really a dog person, he just loves you that much. 🙂
